RIPCORD SYSTEMS
Click the images above to enlarge for more detail This review of an existing user interface, the Ripcord Sales Liberator™, was a starting point for improvements to the entire interface, including the overall user experience and functionality of the product. This was a relatively compact application with a simple user interface intended specifically for Sales Managers working off-site using a PalmPilot. However there were inconsistencies and wayfinding issues, mainly comprised in one feature. This was discovered by creating a map of the task flow using the existing screens. As shown in the interaction map, all features were accessed through SEARCH rather than by selecting the relevant topic or area in the product. As such, most users couldn't find the areas they needed to use. If they found something by searching, they couldn't remember how to get back again. Several suggestions were made so that the product could be more intuitively used. This included changes to the primary and secondary navigation, updated graphics, clarification of the language used, and addition of an overview or summary page to each main area.
